Big D Climb Climbs Closer To A Cure

DALLAS, TEXAS: The North Texas Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is climbing closer towards a cure with their 4th annual Big D Climb. On Saturday, January 28, 2012 climbers from across the region will come together to climb 52 flights of stairs (1,040 steps) at Fountain Place in downtown Dallas. They will all be there for a common cause – to honor those impacted by blood cancers and to raise money for the LLS mission.

Last year, several teams participated to raise money to fight blood cancers, but one team stood out from the rest. Ivie & Associates, Inc., who has had associates who have been involved with the Big D Climb since its first year, raised $28,000 in the 2011 event. Ivie participates in numerous charitable programs each year through Ivie Cares, a program at Ivie dedicated to giving back to the communities they serve.

Ivie & Associate, Inc., Founders, Warren and Kay Ivie, will serve as honorary chairs for the event for the second year in a row.

“We are pleased and honored to serve as chairs for the Big D Climb,” said Warren Ivie, CEO and Founder Ivie & Associates. “We applaud the efforts of LLS and we are happy to assist such an important cause. Our associates rally behind this event each year and it is a great day for all.”

All Big D Climb registrants will receive a commemorative T-shirt with the $40 registration fee. Like many competitive fun runs, awards will be given to individual climbers and teams vying for best time in their age categories and most funds raised.

Funds from the Big D Climb will benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. More than one million Americans have leukemia, myeloma or lymphoma, the most common form of blood cancer. Among children under 20, leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer.
