Every once in a while, it is important to step back and evaluate your personal characteristics, and see how they line up with your job and your aspirations. Rather than keeping these thoughts to myself, I thought I would share them! Below are 9 reasons why I think that Client Services is a good fit for me:

  1. I’m a pleaser: My mother once equated me to Dug, the loyal dog from the Pixar movie Up—his goal is to be loved and make the people around him happy. I love to show the client a finished piece that I am proud of, and if that means standing at a press check for hours, then count me in!
  2. “No” is not in my vocabulary: It is always “we’ll find a way.” This allows us to be creative in our problem solving and to utilize the resources we have on hand.
  3. Problem solving is exciting, and great process improvement makes everyone’s lives a little easier. I strive to find efficiencies on my own projects, and I look to my teammates for their best practices, too. Efficiencies can lead to time and cost savings for our client, so it is a win for everyone!
  4. I like to think of myself as an innovator: idea generation and brainstorming are the way to go. New opportunities, projects, ways of doing things, relationships—all of these are wins in my book!
  5. Put me on the front lines: What our clients are doing is pretty cool! It is awesome to see what is in the works months before it hits stores! Christmas in July is always an interesting concept, and that’s how far ahead we work. With proper planning, execution is a breeze, and it allows our retail space to look UHMAZING!
  6. Call me “Russell Crowe”: Like a gladiator I welcome a good challenge. Without challenges, how will we grow?
  7. Field Day was the best day of elementary school: It is all about teamwork. It is extremely satisfying to be able to bridge two teams (Ivie & Client) to make magic happen!
  8. I am an eternal student: always learning—from peers, from my client, from vendors; there’s always a piece of the marketing world that I don’t know, but I’ll keep looking until I find them all!
  9. I may have a case of split personalities: while I am employed by Ivie, I spend so much time on site with my client that rather than working for them, I work more as an extension of their team. But who doesn’t like having an extra hand? And it makes for a really awesome dynamic.

And the best part of this list is that I’m not alone! I’m lucky enough to be surrounded by other people with the same character traits, and this is how we are able to be successful as a team. So we may not function in a traditional “agency” world, but that is what sets us apart, and in my opinion, it is better to stand out than to blend in to the crowd around you!
