Ivie & Associates Supports Environmental Protection through Electronic Recycling
Flower Mound, TX (July 13, 2011) – As part of its ongoing environmental awareness initiatives, Ivie & Associates, Inc. recently held an electronic recycling drive at its headquarters in Flower Mound, Texas. The drive was held to provide the company and its employees an opportunity to ensure proper responsible disposal of electronic materials. The company recycled 35 items total, preventing an estimated 1,500 lbs. of carbon emissions from entering the atmosphere.Ivie & Associates initiated the program several years ago which allowed for the recycling of electronic items the company no longer had use for. This program has been extended to employees in recent years, enabling them to recycle or properly dispose of many items they no longer use in their homes including unwanted batteries, monitors, printers, servers, cell phones, telephones, computers, cables and wires. The electronics recycling program was created by Ron Dittman, Director of Information Systems for Ivie.
"Ivie has increased focus on recycling efforts each year," stated Dittman, "and we look for every opportunity to facilitate our efforts to be environmentally friendly. For example, we try to use our equipment as long as practical instead of throwing equipment that works well into landfills. Some of the equipment we donated was nearly 12 years old."
Asset Management & Disposal, Inc., the local company Ivie has used since the electronics recycling program's inception, practices a "no landfill" policy, ensuring every component is recycled. Through recycling outdated and unneeded electronic items, Ivie allows for the materials to be reused, therefore helping to conserve natural resources.
Ivie's employees find the program beneficial as it allows the company to contribute to the protection of the environment. Additional electronic recycling drives are scheduled for future dates as part of the company's dedication to environmental awareness and recycling initiatives.
